Michael Makropoulos, born in Thessaloniki, attended school in the Lake Constance region before studying German Philology, Sociology, Philosophy, and Communication Studies at the University of Göttingen. He taught sociological theory, the history of social theory, and cultural sociology at several universities. Following his academic career, he has continued his work on the theory of modernity while painting abstract works and creating concrete objects.
